Note from the Field: Tracy Elman, mic positioning and acoustics

Just fresh off a call with another happy client and I wanted to share this with everyone.  Tracy Elman struggled to get the most out of her custom built booth.  She put a lot of effort into soundproofing, sealing cracks, building up layers of material, etc.  But like many others befoe here, what she didn't understand is the difference between soundproofing and acoustic treatment.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again:  Mic position and acoustics are crucial to good sound!  The room can be quiet as a mouse, but if those two elements aren't dealt with correctly, well, listen to this before and after.  One file was normalized heavily to get the level up as hot as the other, which also raises the noisefloor.
